About Course

Develop a Deeper Understanding of Biology

AP Biology helps students build a strong understanding of essential biological concepts while developing the scientific reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills needed for success in the course and on the AP exam.

Students explore biology at every level—from molecules and cells to organisms, populations, and ecosystems. Major topics include the chemistry of life, cellular processes, genetics, evolution, energy, information transfer, ecology, and biological interactions.

The focus is not simply on memorizing terminology. Students learn to connect biological concepts, analyze data, interpret experimental results, support scientific claims with evidence, and apply their knowledge to unfamiliar situations.

The course works alongside the student’s school curriculum, providing additional instruction and targeted practice with challenging concepts, assignments, quizzes, tests, and AP-style questions throughout the school year.

The goal is to help students succeed in AP Biology, strengthen their scientific reasoning, and prepare confidently for the AP Biology exam.

What Students Will Learn

  • Chemistry of Life
Explore water, biological macromolecules, and the chemical foundations of living systems.
  • Cells
Study cellular structures, membrane transport, organelles, and the relationship between structure and function.
  • Cellular Energetics
Understand enzymes, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and how organisms obtain and use energy.
  • Cell Communication and the Cell Cycle
Examine signaling pathways, feedback mechanisms, cell division, and cell-cycle regulation.
  • Heredity
Study meiosis, genetic diversity, inheritance patterns, and environmental effects on phenotype.
  • Gene Expression and Regulation
Explore DNA, RNA, replication, transcription, translation, mutations, gene regulation, and biotechnology.
  • Natural Selection
