AP Calculus AB/BC
Sundays 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM starting September 8, 2024
Ever since its discovery in the 17th century, calculus has played an essential role in modern mathematics, physics and all domains of engineering and science. This course approaches calculus from the lens of AP, tackling concepts at the beginner (AB) and intermediate (BC) level. We offer instruction for the eight units of AP Calc AB and BC, as well as the extra modules and two units only for Calc BC. More information about the curriculum can be found on CollegeBoard for AB or BC.
At the AP level, this course is an essential for students wishing to enter an engineering or physical sciences field, and it provides an invaluable supplement to the education of any child no matter their career. Classes will take place every Sunday through the school year up until the AP exam in May.
AP Calculus AB: This course covers fundamental concepts of calculus, including limits, derivatives, and integrals. It focuses on a wide range of topics within differential calculus (rates of change) and integral calculus (accumulation and area under curves).
AP Calculus BC: Building upon the content of AP Calculus AB, this course delves further into calculus, covering additional topics such as advanced integration techniques, parametric equations, polar coordinates, sequences, and series. It offers a more comprehensive exploration of calculus concepts.
Both AP Calculus courses emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving, and the application of mathematical concepts to real-world situations. Students who take these courses often have the opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement in college math courses if they perform well on the AP Calculus exam administered by the College Board.
Instructor: Under the instruction of Mr. Singh, students are set to turn their AP test scores into scholarships. Mr. Singh has been teaching in the NJ public school circuit for more than 20 years and curates learning paths and curriculums backed by his own experience teaching these very subjects in the public school system.
