About Course

Students enrolled in this course will prepare and compete in an international coding and computer science league (ACSL).

In this computer science course, students will learn fundamentals of coding, problem solving, and will develop logical thinking. Some concepts taught in this course include: octal and hexadecimal computer number systems, boolean algebra, digital electronics and graph theory. Program can be written in Java, Python or C++.

In addition to learning these concepts students also get opportunity to compete with students from all over the world. Coding competitions include 30 minutes written part and a 72 hour programming challenge. These competitions happen once a month from December to April. Teams who qualify for the invitational finals meet at a high school chosen by ACSL on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

All the concepts and classes are differentiated based upon the grade level of the student. This league is divided into 4 different divisions with students ranging from grade 4th to 12th.

Teams from Rising Future / CODEie have been part of this competition from the past 8 years. Our team has made to the finals of ACSL every year since its inception. In 2019, CODEie was placed 5th in the world in the Junior division.  All of our students have qualified for the ACSL Finals from the past 3 years.

American Computer Science League (ACSL.org) organizes computer science and programming contests for k-12 students. This year will be the 44rd year of this organization. Last year, about 500 teams from United States, Europe, Canada and Asia competed in this competition.
