About the Course

Build a Strong Foundation for Algebra

Pre-Algebra helps students develop the essential mathematical skills and conceptual understanding needed for success in Algebra I and future mathematics courses. Students strengthen their arithmetic skills, begin working with variables and equations, develop proportional and algebraic reasoning, and learn to approach increasingly complex problems with confidence.

The course bridges the gap between basic arithmetic and Algebra by introducing students to abstract thinking, mathematical reasoning, and effective problem-solving techniques.

The course works alongside the student’s school curriculum, providing additional instruction, practice, and support with challenging concepts, assignments, quizzes, and tests throughout the school year.

The goal is to help students strengthen their mathematical foundation, succeed in their current class, and become confident and independent problem-solvers.

What Students Will Learn

• Arithmetic Foundations
  Strengthen skills with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, and order of operations.
• Variables and Expressions
  Translate mathematical statements, evaluate expressions, and understand how variables represent unknown quantities.
• Equations and Inequalities
  Solve and check equations and inequalities using logical, step-by-step methods.
• Ratios and Proportions
  Apply ratios, rates, proportions, and percentages to mathematical and real-world problems.
• Integers and Rational Numbers
  Perform operations with positive and negative numbers and understand their relationships.
• Graphing and Coordinate Geometry
  Plot points, analyze relationships, and develop an introductory understanding of linear equations and graphs.
• Problem-Solving
  Interpret word problems, select appropriate strategies, and explain mathematical reasoning.

  Reinforce topics being taught in the student’s current mathematics class.
